WIP photos

I've had a few queries as to how I'm putting my latest series of illustrations together.  They start off as doodles in my trusty Moleskine gridded notebook.  The grid helps me keep my page organized (and to line up drawings that need to be matchlined).  Then it's on to Photoshop to color the lines and paint the color in.  The doodling is the fun part--wait 'til you see the most recent pieces I'm working on--they're nuts on detail!

Galactic Monkey in the hizzouse... Procreate for the character, and Frax for the background.

This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands.  Zombie Monkey from my last post, with a Mars texture I found on the Interwebs, composited with a background from Frax--all plopped into Tiny Planets to give Zombie Monkey his own mini Mars to explore.

Zombie monkey strikes back...  I drew this one in Procreate on the trusty iPad on a long flight to the West Coast.  The background is something I generated in an app that I'm loving these days called Frax--fractally generated images that you can twirl and twist and zoom to make interesting backgrounds!

What lies beneath?  I'm obsessed with cartoon cross-sections these days--they're just so much fun to produce!  Hand-drawn in my sketchbook, then colored/post-processed in Photoshop.  I've been printing these to canvas for a gallery hanging, so stay tooned for pics (I'll try to avoid the selfies).  This one prints at 16" x 48".
